NZ78 is a short atmospheric sci-fi story told through text and ink-wash images. On May 12, 2078, New Zealand loses all overseas communication. Satellites, cables, and overseas links go silent without warning. At first, life continues almost normally. Power stays on. Food is available. The government asks people to stay calm while officials search for a reasonable explanation. But as days pass, the situation becomes harder to explain. Reports from the sea raise new questions, familiar assumptions begin to fail, and New Zealand finds itself facing events that should not be possible. Presented in a minimalist filmstrip style, NZ78 combines written narration with atmospheric ink-wash visuals to tell a focused sci-fi mystery set in future New Zealand.
