You'll be fighting a variety of monsters, differing from place to place, varying from slimes, chickens and bats, to living sets of armor, wizards and dragons. You'll also be able to recruit mercenaries that will be necessary to progress. Try not to get lost in gradually more complex dungeons and explore them thoroughly, so you won't miss anything that may help. At the very end, engage in battle against the terrifying Disciple of Lord Antisex and ensure he will share his even more terrible master's fate!
